Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (now Onesti(born November 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now One Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast in history to get a flawless score of 10 points in an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics instructor who would become Comaneci's coach in later years she discovered her when she was six. She first competed at the junior national championships of Romania in 1969, she was 13th. In 1970, she won. Her first ever international event in 1972 she won the event with three gold medals. The athlete won four golds and one silver medals at her senior debut international competition, held in 1975. It was the first time she competed as an older senior. She was the first woman to perform a reverse double salo on the parallel bar that was uneven in the event she won American Cup, New York City 1976.
